We should be thankful every day and November can be the month that reminds us as we head toward Thanksgiving. It is a day we eat too much, some people watch football, others shop, but hopefully we all remember to be thankful.
I have had a long and amazing career and I’m still going strong. Maybe a little slower, but I’m still moving forward. I usually write about crime but decided to take a break this month.
This year has been busy with working part time, my own business, selling my house, renting temporarily as another house is built. Downsizing can be interesting, and it appears that “stuff” breeds. Hopefully will be in the smaller home within the next few months. God, as always, was a part of the process as it went smoother than anticipated. The builder told me that the only slowdowns could be bad weather and hunting season. I’m praying that neither will negatively impact the construction.
My parents, aunts, uncles and some cousins have gone to their heavenly reward, but we have a large family so many of us are still around. We live in different parts of the country but see each other occasionally. We keep up through email and connect on Face time.
I have many friends, co-workers and a Church family. Sometimes see friends from prior to entering elementary school, middle and high school. Also, people I worked with years ago.
My health is good, my mind is sharp most of the time and I can get out of bed each day. What more can you ask for?
I recently bought a new Bible as the cover of my other one is worn out and I needed a larger print. I bypassed that and went for giant print. I figured I might as well be proactive.
I am finishing a new challenge and it will be announced when its finished as the Lord continues to move me out of my comfort zone. I know that retirement isn’t in the Bible but hope that I can take it down a notch someday.
This time of the year can be difficult for many people including those who have lost loved ones. If family members are missing or unsolved cold cases, I pray for justice and peace. If you are having suicidal thoughts, I pray that you will reach out for help. Your life is important.
I am blessed beyond measure and thank the Lord for always being with me. My hope is that no matter what may be going on in your life, good or bad, that you will take time to be thankful. Even during the storms, there are blessings if we remain focused on God.
Happy Thanksgiving! betsyramsey.com
